Isaiah 6:1-6 6 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. 2 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!” 4 And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, a...

Potsherd (Part 2 of 4) - Hypocrisy

Part 1 of 4 link   Deception Proverbs 26:23  KJV Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross. Burning Lips; fervent lips in some translations Potsherd- broken earthen vessel;  broken piece of pottery Dross- impurities, waste, worthless matter, scum or from the melting process of metals Likened to a piece of pottery covered with silver to mask the brokenness and impurities by which it is truly covered. Part 2 -Hypocrisy  Hypocrisy- pretense of piety, insincerity; a person who puts on a false appearance of virtue; a pretender : pretending, masquerading, and acting like something you are not.  It’s being two-faced, putting on a show.  Hypocrisy and deception go hand in hand and it is an act that always displeases God. In Matthew 23 Jesus confronts the scribes and Pharisees for a number of things; Placing heavy yokes upon the people with all their rules and regulations that they themselves did not adhere to in contrast t...

Proverbs 26:23  KJV Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross. This describes one whose words are brought forth with affection, passion, zeal and burn with love, sincerity and the like however, inwardly harboring wickedness in their hearts.  They may speak as if they have the best interest of you and others in mind, saying one thing but, really meaning another.  Their words are the beautiful silver glaze used to cover wickedness.  Whether done intentionally or not, this is deception. Judas is a great example on how outward appearance can be deceptive.  One can put on a facade appearing to be holy and righteous,...

Jonah 4:8 King James Version (KJV) 8 And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live. God is vehemently moving, that is to say he is passionately and intensely moving upon the world.  The world is catching a glimpse of just how shaky their foundation is.  There is a rapid and seemingly sudden shift that in time for some won't simply be inconvenient but, will bring about a level of discomfort causing them to lose hope and some even thinking it better to die than to live.  Some will feel as if their whole world is crumbling because they have put their hope in things and people and not in the Lord.  Stay humble. Do not gloat when you see disaster strike or the fear many have.  Pray for one another and with those who are willing . We are still in the season of lent and you may be temp...
